Nearly Two Million Viewers For Telecast Called By New Sunday Night Baseball Team

ESPN’s MLB Opening Day telecast of the San Francisco Giants’ victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers is its most-watched, regular-season weekday MLB game in six years, according to Nielsen. It delivered nearly two million viewers (1,966,000), the most for a weekday game since Opening Day in 2012. ESPN has televised more than 300 MLB regular-season weekday games since then.

The telecast marked the official regular-season debut of ESPN’s new Sunday Night Baseball team – Matt Vasgersian, Alex Rodriguez, and Jessica Mendoza with Buster Olney reporting.

This Sunday, April 1, the new team calls its first official Sunday Night Baseball presented by Taco Bell telecast, as the Giants visit the Dodgers in the final game of their season-opening series.
