WASHINGTON — Stacey Abrams, a rising political star from Georgia who narrowly lost a race for governor there last year, will deliver the Democrats’ official response to President Trump’s State of the Union address next week.

“She is just a great spokesperson,” Mr. Schumer told reporters. “She’s an incredible leader. She has led the charge for voting rights, which is at the root of just about everything else.”
