The Judd Foundation has joined Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac’s roster in Europe. A solo exhibition of Donald Judd’s work, curated by his son, Flavin Judd, who is artistic director of the Judd Foundation, will open at the gallery’s Marais space in Paris in April 2019. It will be the first solo show of the artist’s work in France in nearly 20 years.
Flavin Judd said in a statement, “The architecture of Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac presents an occasion to exhibit Don’s work within an environment that suits his artwork wonderfully. Through working with the gallery we will develop a compelling program of exhibitions and initiatives.”
Thaddaeus Ropac, the gallery’s founder, said in a statement to press, “Judd challenged and redefined the notion of sculpture, architecture and design. His ground-breaking explorations of the relationship between the object and its environs, his seminal writings on art and his collaborations with other artists remain as influential as ever.”
Major artworks by Donald Judd—including two MENZIKEN pieces from 1988—are currently on view in a show titled “Monumental Minimal” at Ropac’s Pantin location in Paris. Along with the two spaces in French capital, Ropac has two locations in Salzburg, Austria, and one in London.
The Judd Foundation also works with David Zwirner, which has locations in New York, London, and Hong Kong.
