Artist Subodh Gupta, who was accused of sexual harassment last week, has stepped down as guest curator of the Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa, India.
Gupta has denied the allegations, but parted ways with the event so as “not to detract from the collaborative efforts” of the artists involved, according to a statement from Serendipity. The news was reported by the India-based publication Mint, and first published in the U.S. press by Artnet News.
The festival is running December 15 through 22, and Gupta had planned to present group exhibition featuring work by 11 artists, titled “My Colour on Your Plate.”
The allegations against Gupta surfaced on an Instagram account with the name “Scene and Herd” and the handle @herdsceneand, which has levied claims of misconduct against against men involved in the Indian art world.
