Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and his entourage were targeted in a drive by shooting in Atlanta on Monday April 9, TMZ Sports reported.

According to TMZ Sports, Atlanta Police said three SUVs belonging to Mayweather’s camp were traveling from a nightclub at about 3 a.m. when another SUV pulled alongside them and fired several gun shots into one of the three trucks. The shooting occurred just outside of the InterContinental, an upscale hotel located in Buckhead.

All three vehicles were able to speed off once the shooting began, but police told TMZ Sports they were followed by shooter for a long distance. One of Mayweather’s body guards, Gregory LaRosa, was shot in the leg.

“After losing the vehicle that was following them, the victim’s vehicle drove to Grady Hospital where the victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and is in stable condition,” Atlanta Police said, according to TMZ Sports.

Police didn’t mention if Mayweather was inside the SUV that was shot at or if he was a passenger in one of the other two vehicles. But they did confirm that the shooting does not appear to be random.

“At this time, it appears that this was not a random shooting and the shooter was targeting the victim’s vehicle,” police told TMZ.

Mayweather, a Las Vegas resident, was in the Atlanta area for a paid hosting appearance at Medusa Lounge April 8 in Brookhaven, Ga.
