Metro Nashville Police say family members and a friend of a Tennessee juvenile who broke out of a detention center have been charged with helping the 15-year-old elude authorities
Family members of one of the four Tennessee juveniles who broke out of a detention center over the weekend are charged with housing and helping the 15-year-old escapee elude authorities, Nashville police confirmed to news outlets.
Decorrius Wright, 16, and Calvin Howse, 15, were captured by detectives late Tuesday after fleeing Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center on Saturday, Metro Nashville Police tweeted. Wright is accused in the fatal shooting of Nashville musician Kyle Yorlets last year. Howse is accused of an armed robbery, according to a Juvenile Crime Task Force supervisor.
Howse’s mother, cousin and a family friend are accused of providing him with food, housing and internet access while he was on the run. They’re charged with being accessories after the fact of escape and facilitation of escape. An arrest warrant has also been issued for Howse’s sister, Metro police told news outlets Friday.
The teens were on a work detail when their staff supervisor left to respond to a fight elsewhere at the facility, police said. The teens got onto an elevator and went through several doors to reach an exit.
Wright and Howse are now being kept separately from the other youth in the facility in nonadjacent cells, police said.
Police are still searching for two 17 year olds.
