  • Five-part series written and hosted by reigning UFC heavyweight champion
  • First episode, featuring two-division UFC women’s champion Amanda Nunes, available Monday, July 1
  • ESPN+ available on the ESPN App, ESPN.com and all major connected TV devices

A new, five-part UFC edition of Detail, the ground-breaking sports analysis program from Kobe Bryant’s Granity Studios and ESPN+, will feature reigning UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier breaking down the performances of today’s top UFC athletes. The first episode, premiering Monday, July 1, will highlight reigning UFC women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes, who will defend her UFC bantamweight title versus former champion and current No. 1 contender Holly Holm in the co-main event at UFC 239 next Saturday, July 6.

Collaborating with UFC and Bryant’s Granity Studios, Cormier will write and provide expert analysis for each episode, sharing his insights and examining the unique styles and techniques that make each fighter a champion. In addition to Nunes, the first five episodes will break down former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor, current UFC welterweight champion Kamara Usman, reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Israel Adesanya, the UFC’s undefeated No. 1 middleweight contender. Cormier will look at each fighter in detail, breaking down strengths and weaknesses, while taking fans through each athlete’s evolution as a fighter, utilizing footage from multiple bouts throughout their careers to date.

Cormier, an all-time great mixed martial artist, is one of only four UFC athletes to hold championship belts in two weight divisions simultaneously (heavyweight and light heavyweight) and the only UFC fighter to defend championships in two weight classes. In addition to his accomplishments inside the Octagon, Cormier has served as a television analyst and commentator for UFC events since 2014.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am about doing a UFC edition of Detail, and expanding the show to a new MMA audience,” said Cormier. “When I first saw how Kobe breaks down NBA stars and how Peyton Manning explains the NFL, I knew that same kind of analysis applied perfectly to UFC. When you see a knockout or a submission, it’s exciting and fun to watch, but there is so much that goes into setting up that exciting result. So much technique. So much tactical expertise. So many hours of mental and physical development. I can’t wait to break it all down for UFC fans.”

Detail was designed to teach the next generation of greats how to strategize their sport by those who have already mastered it,” said Bryant, CEO of Granity Studios and creator of Detail. “There is no one better to teach MMA than DC. Not only is he one of the greatest to ever enter the octagon, but his ability to communicate the how, why and what of UFC fights is unparalleled. Now that the UFC is available on ESPN+, expanding Detail to support their coverage will help bring more insight to the tactics and strategy behind each fight.”

All of Bryant’s basketball-focused episodes of Detail, as well as Manning’s NFL edition episodes, are available on ESPN+.
