Last night’s NBA Western Conference Finals Game 4 delivered a total metered market rating of a 5.9 across ESPN and ESPN2, which was up 40 percent from a 4.2 rating for Game 4 of the 2017 Western Finals – the last time ESPN televised the Western Finals. It peaked with a 7.1 metered market rating from 11:30-11:45 p.m. ET, according to Nielsen.
ESPN’s metered market ratings for the 2019 NBA Western Conference Finals, the network’s fourth highest rated Conference Finals ever, were up 23 percent from the last time it televised the Western Finals, in 2017. The four-game sweep, in which the Golden State Warriors advanced to their fifth straight NBA Finals, averaged a 5.8 metered market rating, up from a 4.7 rating in 2017, which was also a Warriors sweep.
Monday’s Game 4 telecast drew a 20.8 in the Portland market, making it the highest-rated NBA game on ESPN ever in the market. It delivered a 21.7 in the San Francisco-Oakland market.
The 2019 NBA Finals begin Thursday, May 30, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC. The Golden State Warriors will visit either the Milwaukee Bucks or the Toronto Raptors in Game 1.
