The 2018 Heisman Trophy Ceremony Presented by Nissan on ESPN (8 p.m. ET) delivered a Nielsen total live audience of 2,928,000 viewers, up 33% from last year’s same telecast and the ceremony’s highest audience since 2015. The audience peaked at more than four million viewers when Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray was announced as this season’s winner (9:04 p.m.), edging out Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa and Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins. Overall, more than 6.5 million viewers watched any portion of the program on ESPN (8-9:12 p.m.)

The Heisman Trophy Ceremony was the most-viewed cable telecast of the day among key male and adult demos (18-34, 18-49, 25-54) and the annual telecast led all broadcast and cable programs in prime-time among similar demos: men 18-34 and 18-49 and adults 18-34.

Finalists’ Home Markets Watch in Strong Numbers
Birmingham was the No. 1 local market, generating a 16.8 local rating, followed by Oklahoma City (13.4), Tulsa (11.5), Columbus (8.5) and Norfolk (4.7).
