ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ will combine to carry unprecedented coverage of MLS Decision Day Presented by AT&T – the final day of the 2019 Major League Soccer regular season – on Sunday, Oct. 6, when all 12 intraconference matches will kick off simultaneously during the 4 p.m. ET window. Highlights:

  • MLS on ESPN Presented by Audi: Portland Timbers vs. San Jose Earthquakes (ESPN/ESPN Deportes) – the winning team secures a berth in the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs. Jon Champion, Taylor Twellman and sideline reporter Sebastian Salazar will provide English-language commentary. Bernardo Osuna and Herculez Gomez will call the game on ESPN Deportes.
  • For the first time, ESPN+ will carry live MLS Decision Day presented by AT&T Whip-around Show (4–6:30 p.m.), featuring Adrian Healey, Alejandro Moreno and Brian Dunseth.
  • ESPN+ will stream the other 11 MLS Decision Day matches to out-of-market audiences across the country.
  • MLS Countdown Live Presented by AT&T – the 30-minute digital show hosted by Salazar will stream live from Portland’s Providence Park at 3:30 p.m. The show is available on Twitter, YouTube and the ESPN App, and it features interviews, team news, special guests and more.
  • SportsCenter – the ESPN flagship program will feature highlights and reaction from the day.

What’s at Stake? / 2019 MLS Decision Day Storylines:

  • Four teams – Portland Timbers (46 points), FC Dallas (45), San Jose Earthquakes (44) and Colorado Rapids (42) – in the Western Conference are vying for two playoff spots.
  • In the Eastern Conference, three teams – D.C. United (4th place / 49 points), New York Red Bulls (5th / 48) and Toronto FC (6th / 47) – will be playing for the final spot available to host a playoff game.
  • Winner of Seattle Sounders FC (53 points) vs. Minnesota FC (53) gets the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference.
  • Chasing the Golden Boot award: LAFC’s Carlos Vela is tied for MLS’s most goals in a season record, set last year by Atlanta’s Josef Martinez, at 31 goals. If Vela scores Sunday, he gets the record. Currently at 29 goals for the season, LA Galaxy’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic is chasing Vela for 2019 top scorer and the record.
