ESPN will again be on hand from first ball to last at the Miami Open presented by Itaú as defending champion and No. 1 in the world Roger Federer will lead the men while the women’s field is topped by Simona Halep but includes contenders ranging from legendary veterans the Williams Sisters to the two 20-year finalists at last week’s BNP Paribas Open, Naomi Osaka and Daria Kasatkina.
Coverage starts with ESPN3 presenting action from up to eight courts on Wednesday, March 21, joined a week later by TV coverage totaling 25 hours. All matches are available on the ESPN app. The first day’s order of play will include Serena Williams facing Osaka, fresh off the biggest title of her young career. It likely will be contested during the afternoon and can be seen on ESPN3 and the ESPN app on mobile devices.
The action will conclude with the Women’s Championship on Saturday, March 31, and the Men’s Championship on Sunday, April 1, both at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
ESPN’s lead tennis host Chris Fowler will be joined by Mary Joe Fernandez, Brad Gilbert and Patrick McEnroe.

Serena Williams, a resident of the Miami area, continues her comeback from maternity leave at the event she has won eight times. She won two matches in Indian Wells, her first WTA event as a mom, before being eliminated by her older sister. Venus, who also lives in South Florida, is seeded No. 8 at the tournament she has captured three times, although not since 2001.
Juan Martín del Potro, last week’s men’s winner in a thrilling duel vs. Federer, is seeded No. 5. Jack Sock is the highest seeded American at No. 8 and Novak Djokovic – who has taken the big trophy at this event six times – continues his comeback from injury seeded No. 9.
