Student Section Selection Committee led by ESPN College GameDay Host Rece Davis
Student Sections to Watch List features Schools from the Atlantic Coast, American, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12 and Southeastern Conferences
ESPN and Taco Bell today announced that this college football season, they are teaming up to select the first-ever Live Más Student Section of the Year honoring the best student section in the country. The contest will be a first for Taco Bell as part of its official sponsorship over the past five years, since the start of the College Football Playoff. An official trophy will be awarded to the winning student section at the College Football Awards Show at the College Football Hall of Fame in December in Atlanta.
The Student Section Selection Committee will be led by ESPN College GameDay host Rece Davis alongside ESPN college football reporters Marty Smith and Molly McGrath, The Oregon Duck and six ESPN.com college football writers representing each of the Power Five conferences and a national perspective. To kick things off, the committee has released the “Student Sections to Watch” list. They include:
· Baylor | · Oklahoma State |
· Central Florida | · Oregon |
· Clemson | · Penn State |
· East Carolina | · Texas A&M |
· Florida | · Texas Tech |
· Iowa | · Utah |
· Navy | · Virginia Tech |
· Notre Dame | · Wisconsin |
This preliminary list does not exclude other student sections from eligibility. The committee will be keeping an eye on student sections across all 129 Division I Football Bowl Subdivision schools all season long.
Throughout the regular season, the committee will share weekly updates on which schools to watch for and submit their picks for the Student Section of the Week, starting with Notre Dame as this week’s pick. Starting in Week 10, the committee will publish a weekly Top 10 ranking based on their votes up until the Top 4 Student Sections are selected to determine a winner. Throughout the contest, students will be asked to show the committee why their student section is the best in the country and will have a chance to win tickets to the College Football Playoff if their school qualifies.
Taco Bell will also continue to give the biggest games back to the biggest fans by providing free tickets to students to create student sections during the College Football Playoff and New Year’s Six bowl games.
Fans can catch the latest news and updates from the Live Más Student Section of the Year contest across ESPN on TV, digital and social platforms throughout the season, in addition to the www.livemasstudentsection.com website.
