Nationwide — Dezmon Hamilton, a 34-year old father from Zachary, Louisiana, was shot and killed in his own home by a teenage boy after he was caught trying to sneak in to see his daughter, who is a minor.
The incident happened around 8am when Hamilton caught 17-year old Nicholas Mcquirter in his home attempting to visit his 14-year old daughter. The teen apparently climbed through the second-story window, Police Chief David McDavid told WBRZ.
Hamilton and Mcquirter were both armed and shot one another during the confrontation, but it has yet been unclear who fired the first shot. Hamilton suffered multiple shots and was pronounced dead at the scene. Mcquirter was hospitalized and is reportedly in critical condition.
The teen is facing charges of second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and possessing a stolen firearm upon his release from the hospital.
