ESPN’s networks will feature the majority of the AP Top 10 teams during college football’s week 5 slate, including ESPN’s primetime game and in each of ABC’s three game windows. In those games, No. 1 Clemson, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 7 Auburn, and No. 8 Wisconsin will be on upset alert, as they face conference opponents. SEC Network will also feature No. 9 Florida at home in a non-conference matchup and, across all ESPN’s networks, numerous other ranked teams will be in action, including No. 24 Kansas State via Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

Nebraska Hosts ABC’s Saturday Night Football for First Time Since 2012; No. 5 Ohio State Looks to Remain Unbeaten
ABC’s Saturday Night Footbal Presented by Wells Fargol returns to Lincoln, Neb., for the first time since 2012 as the signature college football franchise features No. 5 Ohio State at the Huskers (7:30 p.m. ET), who come in with a 3-1 record. The matchup is the Buckeye’s third ever trip to Memorial Stadium, having played there in 2017 and 2011. The Big Ten game features two of the county’s most-dynamic quarterbacks, as Ohio State’s Justin Fields has 13 passing touchdowns and 0 INTs on the year and Nebraska’s Adrian Martinez has 10 total touchdowns. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Maria Taylor will have the call of the game.

College GameDay Built by The Home Depot (9 a.m. – noon) will set the scene, televising live from Lincoln for the first time since 2007.

Top Ranked Clemson Tries to Extend Winning Streak; No. 8 Wisconsin Looks to Extend Hot Start to Season
Top-ranked Clemson travels to North Carolina (3:30 p.m.) and No. 8 Wisconsin hosts Northwestern (noon) rounding out ABC’s tripleheader of top teams. Dave Pasch, Greg McElroy and Tom Luginbill will be in Chapel Hill, N.C. to see if the Tigers can extend their 19 game winning streak, while Bob Wischusen, Dan Orlovsky and Allison Williams are in Madison, Wisc., as the Badgers look to remain unbeaten on the year.

No. 7 Auburn Opens Home SEC Slate in Primetime on ESPN; No. 23 Texas A&M vs. Arkansas in ESPN CFB150 Showcase Game
ESPN’s primetime action will feature No. 7 Auburn hosting Mississippi State (7 p.m.), as the Tigers begin their home conference slate against a 3-1 Bulldogs team. The network’s slate begins with the ESPN CFB150 Showcase Game featuring No. 23 Texas A&M vs. Arkansas (noon) from AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Sean McDonough, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe will be on the call for the primetime matchup and Mark Jones, Dusty Dvoracek and Olivia Dekker call the Aggies-Razorbacks.

ESPN’s afternoon slate features a Big 12 matchup as Iowa State is at Baylor (3:30 p.m.) and its primetime slate features the Pac-12 as UCLA is at Arizona (10:30 p.m.).

As much as any other sport, the history of college football tells the history of American race relations. It is hard to appreciate the sport’s complexities without knowing how long the road has been, and continues to be, towards equal rights. The third episode of The American Game delves into the sport’s history Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

 

College football has also offered some of the best inspirational moments in sport’s history. The Greatest on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. on ESPN will look at the sport’s most inspiring moments.
