As anticipation builds for the release of Sinners this weekend, we’re reflecting on Michael B. Jordan’s impressive career. Check out our favorite MBJ roles inside.
The upcoming supernatural thriller, set in the 1930s, marks Jordan’s fourth collaboration with director Ryan Coogler, following their successful partnerships on Fruitvale StationCreed, and Black Panther.

Jordan’s breakout role came in 2013 with Fruitvale Station, where he portrayed Oscar Grant, a young Black man tragically killed by police in Oakland. His performance was lauded for its depth and authenticity, bringing humanity to a real-life story that resonated with many.​
In 2015, Jordan took on the role of Adonis Creed in Creed, breathing new life into the Rocky franchise. His portrayal of the determined boxer earned critical acclaim and led to two sequels, with Creed III marking his directorial debut in 2023.
Jordan’s versatility was further showcased in 2018’s Black Panther, where he played the complex antagonist Erik Killmonger. His performance added an emotional depth to the film no one expected and contributed to its cultural impact and success.
Beyond these standout roles, Jordan has demonstrated his range in films like Just Mercy (2019), portraying civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson, and Without Remorse (2021), where he took on the action-packed role of John Clark.
In his most dynamic role yet, with Sinners, Jordan tackles dual roles as twin brothers confronting supernatural forces in their hometown. Early reviews are positive, with the film already holding a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its release.
