Meek Mill’s incarceration became a huge talking point within hip-hop and the Black community because his fame allowed there to be eyes on a system that often traps young people of color from a lower socioeconomic class. With the calls to #FreeMeekMill a larger discussion came into play and the district attorney and Meek’s legal team worked to get him out of prison. Now many celebrities have come forward to welcome the Philly rapper home.
Meek Free!!!!

Just spoke to Sixers co-owner Michael Rubin. He said it’s “more likely than not” Meek Mill will attend Game 5 tonight, and he’ll ring the ceremonial bell pre-game if he can get there in time.

Thank you Pennsylvania Supreme Court for releasing Meek Mill on bail and overturning the racist, disproportionate decision that kept him incarcerated since November 2017.

I want you to see this.
A man who was just released from jail just thanked his DISTRICT ATTORNEY.
This is not normal.
This is why @RealJusticePAC helped elect Larry Krasner in Philly.
He just started in January and has made a HUGE difference. https://t.co/uw8pn2xpid

Much respect to Michael Rubin for simply being a good friend and lending his platform to help others. Thousands of people are treated unfairly daily by the criminal justice system. I can’t wait to see @MeekMill help lead the way for others that don’t have a voice. Welcome home! pic.twitter.com/n9DcBwQQGk
