Career Communications Group, Inc., (CCG) a media company based in Maryland’s 7th District, is saddened by the announcement Thursday that Congressman Elijah E. Cummings had died. The following statement was sent by CCG publisher and chairman Tyrone Taborn via email this morning to the CCG network:
“I lost a dear best friend last night. I served with him for many years on the Morgan State Board of Regents. Things were difficult for him. Last month, out of the blue, he wrote me this letter. May my friend rest in peace. And may we honor his life by continuing his work.”
In the letter dated September 10, 2019, Congressman Elijah Cummings wrote:
Dear Tyrone,
I hope that all is well with you. I wanted to take a minute to say thank you.
I want to thank you for all the support that you have shown to me during the 23 years that I have served as your Congressman representing Maryland’s 7th Congressional District. Your kind words and actions, prayers and financial contributions have been greatly appreciated.
It is people like you that encourage me to work harder to help maintain the standards, honor, and integrity that represent America. Please know that your actions inspire me to want to do more for our great nation – and there is always more to do.
Once again, thank you, and I look forward to continuing to serve you.
On LinkedIn, Taborn, who is also the chief content officer and CEO of Career Communications Group, wrote:
“A giant and great American passed. Congressman Cummings. Our prayers to Maya Rockeymoore Cummings and the family. I am proud to have worked with my friend.”
