As part of Planned Parenthood’s new campaign, titled Unstoppable, ten female artists have signed on to contribute to Unstoppable Art, an online arts initiative tasked with bringing awareness and prompting action towards women’s issue through video art. Among those who are part of the project so far are Zoe Buckman, Chitra Ganesh, Hillary Jordan, Shirin Neshat, Mickalene Thomas, and Carrie Mae Weems.

Weems told ARTnews of her decision to be involved with the project, “In the darkest hours, the struggle is to keep on pushing, to keep on advancing, to rebel and to protest, to lift our voices against all forms of injustice as we attempt to address the wrongs of the past, to move to higher ground and to hold on tighter to hope, to one another and to love.”

Today, the initiative releases its first video piece, the Unstoppable Manifesto Video, by filmmaker Tiffany Shlain.

Tanya Selvaratnam, the executive producer of Unstoppable Art, told ARTnews, “These are artists that I’ve admired for a very long time because they really exemplify the feeling that we’re going for with Unstoppable.” She added, “There’s so much around us that dehumanizes our neighbors, our friends, people who visit this country or are trying to, I think it’s really important to provide art that can both uplift people and ultimately unite them.”
