Bloomberg Philanthropies has named 47 cultural organizations in Washington, D.C., and 38 organizations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as grantees in its Arts Innovation and Management (AIM) program. AIM is an invitation-only, multi-year initiative that “seeks to strengthen the organizational capacity and programming of small and midsize cultural organizations” through training in fundraising, marketing, strategic planning, and board development.
Through the program, Bloomberg Philanthropies will distribute $43 million to over 200 arts organizations across seven cities—Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Denver, New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. Last week, 45 Atlanta-based organizations were invited to take part.
Kate D. Levin, head of Bloomberg Philanthropies Arts Program, said in a statement, “Small and midsize cultural organizations are absolutely essential to cities because they develop artists, build community, and boost the local economy. We are proud to provide unique training and support to help dynamic cultural organizations thrive.”
