They say stress is a silent killer. However, Lequita Brooks’ mission is to help professionals conquer the emotional burdens their jobs cause. As the founder and CEO of Therapy Topia, Brooks’ goal is to target working professionals to help them identify any issues caused by the strain of their job and help them prioritize their emotional and psychological well-being.

“I created Therapy Topia because I have always enjoyed helping others, and I wanted to create a lifestyle that offers flexibility as I support my family,” Brooks told BlackNews.com.

According to a recent survey by Northwestern Nation Life, about 40% of workers said that their jobs were incredibly stressful. Twenty-nine percent of workers also expressed feelings of extreme stress due to their job, according to a survey by Yale University. And without doubt, when race is factored in, researchers have found that black women in particular face “double jeopardy,” according to Ashleigh Shelby Rosette, a management professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, and Robert W. Livingston, professor of management and organizations at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

“This business offers simple self-care strategies that people can apply to their life to become the best version of themselves. We are here to simplify your life; therefore, we offer convenient online scheduling options to book an appointment.”

Brooks holds a Master of Social Work and is a licensed clinical social worker. Throughout her experience working with Employee Assistance programs, hospice care, and the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program, Brooks learned the many forms that stress takes and how to help others.

Although Therapy Topia is located in Orange Park, Florida, it is not limited to one state or country. In Jamaica, they host annual retreats lead by therapists who provide counseling. Stressed professionals can also seek help digitally through Therapy Topia’s video counseling feature.
