There are plenty of Batman choices, whether it comes to films and cartoons. For the later, Batman: Caped Crusader takes its cues from the beloved WB series Batman: The Animated Series, which put a generation of fans onto the greatness of the Dark Knight. The series is touted as a “reimagining” of the Batman via executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm. We’ll keep it a buck, they had us locked in from the first episode when we peeped Commissioner Gordon and his daughter Barbara Gordon were clearly Black people. Also, the Penguin is a woman (Oswalda Cobblepot, voiced by Minnie Driver), and just as dastardly, so sign us up for the DEI creativity that’s always welcome.

The early 2000s were full of movies that would never be produced nowadays, which makes them even more special to watch now. Buried in that catalog is White Chicks, starring Marlon and Shawn Wayans who play two FBI agents who come up with the hare-brained scheme of dressing up in drag as two uber-rich white socialites so that the real women don’t get abducted during a long weekend in The Hamptons.
The ridiculousness continues as the Wayans have culture clashes while trying to fit in with the sisters’ friends and a stereotypical boneheaded athlete role played by Terry Crews, who salivates over blondes. Don’t worry, we’ll pretend you don’t know the words to Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles,” too. (IYKYK)
