Pictures at an Exhibition presents images of one notable show every weekday.

Today’s show: “Ben Gocker: A BRIGHT BIG PICTURE IN SOME FUTURE MACHINE” is on view at David B. Smith Gallery in Denver through Saturday, October 6. The solo exhibition, the Tupper Lake, New York–based artist’s first with the gallery, presents a new suite of work “made of wood, paper, wire, and objects that belonged to or were created by a woman named Helen Macro,” a dress shop owner and painter who lived in Gocker’s upstate New York home until her death at 94 in 2016, according to press materials for the show.
