ArtPrize, the open art competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with more than $500,000 awarded to participating artists each year, appointed Jori Bennett as executive director. Previously the organization’s director of business development, Bennett had been working as interim director since January.
As business development director, Bennett was responsible for corporate sponsorships, which accounted for some 60 percent of ArtPrize’s 2017 revenue. The next ArtPrize event will run September 19 through October 7; open registration begins April 16 and continues through June 7.
In a statement, Bennett said, “The focus of ArtPrize during its next decade is to build upon the catalyst we’ve created in West Michigan and deliver our creative style and approach to the broader art world and national stage, through more conversations about art and why it matters more than ever.”
