During Art Basel Hong Kong, ARTnews and the Peninsula Hotels celebrated the launch of the FUTURE Group with an inaugural brunch hosted by founding member Michael Xufu Huang. The event coincided with the Peninsula Hotels’ inauguration of Art in Resonance, a contemporary art program curated by Isolde Brielmaier and Bettina Prentice.
The FUTURE Group hosts a series of programs to engage the next generation of collectors, curators, and entrepreneurs in the art space. Members are invited to exclusive gallery tours, studio visits, panel discussions, and exhibition openings as well as special international events. FUTURE Group members have premier access to curators, high-profile artists, and leading art specialists and collectors in the U.S. and around the globe.
For this FUTURE Group event, Huang invited guests to view “Cutthroat Kitchen,” a solo exhibition of work by emerging painter Zhang Zipiao that he organized at Hong Kong’s MINE Project gallery, on view through April 27. Huang and his guests later enjoyed breathtaking views of the Hong Kong harbor over brunch at the Peninsula, before taking a private tour of the current Art in Resonance installations in the hotel—new work commissioned from emerging and mid-career artists Janet Echelman, Timothy Paul Myers, Iván Navarro, and Zhi-gang Lu. The artwork will travel to several other Peninsula Hotels properties worldwide over the next several years.
