Art21 has announced details about the ninth season of its PBS television series, Art in the Twenty-First Century.  The new season, beginning September 21, will spotlights artists’ relationships with place, and will feature 12 artists as well as, for the first time, a nonprofit art center.

The season will be divided into three episodes, each focusing on artists working in Berlin, Johannesburg, and San Francisco Bay Area, respectively. The Berlin episode will feature Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg, Olafur Eliasson, Hiwa K, and Susan Philipsz. In Johannesburg, the show will be devoted to David Goldblatt, Nicholas Hlobo, Zanele Muholi, and Robin Rhode. And the Bay Area episode will center on Creative Growth Art Center, Katy Grannan, Lynn Hershman Leeson, Stephanie Syjuco.
