During the first week of December, the Miami area becomes the center of the art world, as dealers, collectors, curators, journalists, and artists arrive for Art Basel Miami Beach and the numerous fairs that orbit around it, like the many moons of Jupiter. The 17th edition of NADA Miami will bring together 135 exhibitors, including 56 Henry (New York), Misako & Rosen (Tokyo), Night Gallery (Los Angeles), and Carbon 12 (Dubai). Newcomers to the event are Gasworks (of London), 80m2 Livia Benavides (Lima), Galería Alegría (Madrid), and Galerie Iragui (Moscow). NADA Miami’s 2019 International Gallery Prize recipient is the Paris-based enterprise Bonny Poon, which will show works by Marie Karlberg, Ilya Lipkin, Kunle F. Another oceanside fair is Scope, which will gather over 134 international exhibitors like ArtConvex (Hong Kong), Gallery 133 (Toronto), and Mortal Machine (New Orleans). New to the fair this year is “OASIS,” a multidisciplinary program of large-scale installations, musical performances, and panel discussions, along with another program, “FOCUS | ART CHINA,” devoted to Chinese contemporary art. Art Miami

Art Miami is now in its 30th year of showing modern and contemporary art from around the world. Context Miami, a sister fair of Art Miami taking place at the same location, highlights emerging and mid-career artists. Exhibitors at the main fair include C24 Gallery (New York), Galería Casa Cuadrada (Bogotá and Zurich), and Galerie Thomas Fuchs (Stuttgart). This year, 95 galleries, including Blank Space (New York), Cube Gallery (London), and Galeria Animal (Santiago), will participate in Context. Aqua Art Miami

Another sister fair of Art Miami is Aqua, which will feature 60 exhibitors throughout a South Beach hotel and its courtyard. With an eye toward emerging and mid-career artists, Aqua will host presentations by Janus Gallery (Brooklyn), Lumas (Berlin), Zoom Gallery (Seoul), Galerie le Capricorne (Saint Paul de Vence, France), and other galleries. Dorchester Miami Beach Hotel & Suites, December 4 to 8
Presented by the International Fine Print Dealers Association, Ink Miami focuses on modern and contemporary works on paper. Childs Gallery (Boston), Mixografia (Los Angeles), Stoney Road Press (Dublin), and 13 other outfits will show their wares throughout the historic Dorchester Hotel, temporarily converting its rooms into individual art galleries. Complete with hammocks, cocktails, and a sea breeze, Pulse describes itself as an “oasis of calm in the rough seas of Miami Art Week.” The 65 exhibitors include Artemisa Gallery (New York), which will show paintings by Vicky Barranguet, and Nil Gallery (Paris), presenting works by Yeanzi, Igor Moritz, and Prince Gyasi. Pinta
Mana Wynwood, December 5 to 8
Some 60 galleries from Latin America, Europe, and the United States, including Factoria Santa Rose (Santiago), Galería José Amar (Medellín, Colombia), and Beatriz Gil galería (Caracas, Venezuela), will take part in the 13th edition of Pinta, bringing with them works by Carmen Herrera, Carlos Cruz-Díez, Wilfredo Lam, and hundreds of other artists. Its “Countries” section spotlights artworks from Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, and elsewhere, and the fair will also have on view a virtual-reality installation by the Argentinian artist Julio Le Parc. Among more offerings, Pinta will, for the first time, host its performances, videos, and installations in an outdoor space, which will be curated by Ysabel Pinyol, curatorial director at the Jersey City, New Jersey–based Mana Contemporary. Design enthusiasts, rejoice! DesignMiami/, which is held just a short walk away from Art Basel Miami Beach, offers up 20th- and 21st-century furniture, lighting, and miscellaneous art objects. Among its 33 exhibitors are Carpenters Workshop Gallery (New York, San Francisco, London, and Paris), Friedman Benda (New York) Sokyo Gallery (Kyoto), Salon 94 Design (New York), Galleria Antonella Villanova (Florence), and others. Additionally, eclectic cabinets of curiosity, organized by designers, curators, and gallerists, will be interspersed among main exhibitors. One-day entry costs $32.

Prizm Art Fair
Alfred I. Dupont Building, December 4 to 8
With a focus on international artists of the African diaspora, Prizm’s seventh edition will include presentations by N’Namdi Contemporary (Miami), September Gray (Atlanta), espace d’art contemporain 14N 61W (Fort-de-France, Martinique), and 8 more exhibitors. The fair will also feature a curated exhibition, titled “Love in the Time of Hysteria,” with work by 39 artists on view. Among the participants in that show are Laylah Amatullah Barrayn, Nyame Brown, LaToya Hobbs, Kelly Mary Sinnapah, and Zwelethu Machepha. Red Dot Miami

Veteran Miami fair Red Dot will have over 75 exhibitors showing some 500 artists at its 2019 edition. Works at the event are priced between $1,000 and $100,000, and special curated projects include a kinetic installation by Hugo Diaz and a collaborative textile piece organized by artist Diana Weymar. Single-day admission to Red Dot and its sister fair Spectrum, which is held in the same location, costs $25 online and $30 at the event.

Contemporary and Digital Art Fair

As its name suggests, the contemporary and digital art fair is dedicated to new media art. The event—which will bring together galleries like Kate Vass Galerie (Zurich), KultProekt Gallery (Moscow), and Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery (Istanbul)—will feature a range of technological works, including videos, installations, cross-reality pieces, and more. Among the participating artists are Ines Alpha, Carlos Luna James, Sofia Crespo, Rory Scott, and Ben Snell. Talks with artists and arts professionals about the intersections of art and technology, as well as tech’s role in the construction of museum exhibitions, are also on tap. A day pass costs $15.
