My favorite month is April as it’s my birthday month :)!
This month, I’m shining a spotlight on two noteworthy events. Firstly, there’s the Artist Branding Workshop taking place at the Overdue Recognition Art Gallery in Bowie, MD on April 11. I met the organizer of this event, Dontae Muse during the Harlem Fine Arts Show in February, where he enlightened me about his forthcoming Black Art Gallery Tour. This tour intends to showcase galleries and provide enriching workshops tailored for artists. For more information about the Black Art Gallery Tour, click here. I am always happy to support such opportunities, as the existence of spaces like these, particularly when hosted by Black-owned Art Galleries, is vital for artists and the local arts community.
The second event I am highlighting is one that I am highly considering attending which is The Harlem Renaissance and Transatlantic Modernism: A Creative Convening on April 27 in New York City. The event will be filled with conversations, presentations, and performances by leading scholars and artists amplifying themes found in the exhibition The Harlem Renaissance and Transatlantic Modernism. The speaker lineup is impressive and there so much knowledge to gain by attending, so if I go and you see me, say hi!
