With social distancing still in full effect in many parts of the world, some celebrities have taken to social media to share how they’ve been spending their time in isolation. A few famous figures—including Anthony Hopkins and Sylvester Stallone—have given followers a glimpse into some of the artistic endeavors they’ve taken up at home. Below is a look at Hollywood stars’ engagement with the visual arts, which has yielded sundry results.

Anthony Hopkins
The actor, director, and producer Anthony Hopkins, whose recent television and film appearances have included roles in Westworld and The Two Popes, shared a TikTok dance to Drake’s hit song “Toosie Slide” on Instagram last week. In its background were a few paintings. Though it’s not widely known who, exactly, made the works on view in Hopkins’s viral video, which as of Monday has garnered over 1 million views, they may have been by the actor himself, who has been known to make art. He subsequently challenged Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone to post their own dances to the song.

Sylvester Stallone
Though the Rocky actor hasn’t yet responded to Hopkins’s dance challenge, Sylvester Stallone has continued sharing regular images and videos of his paintings on Instagram. In one video recently posted to the social media platform, Stallone shows and describes a work he created titled Inferno. “It basically was my declaration to either make it or go up in flames,” Stallone said of the painting from early in his career. He also has an Instagram account dedicated entirely to his art, @stalloneartwork. Lately, Stallone has been answering questions submitted by fans of his work. 

Jim Carrey
Jim Carrey, whose paintings depicting political subject matter have previously been shown at Maccarone Gallery in Los Angeles, has apparently been at work at some coronavirus-related pieces. On Twitter, the actor and comedian shared paintings of Donald Trump drinking from a bottle of Shout cleaning agent and Trump reprimanding beach-goers for not going in the ocean. Each work is accompanied by a bit of commentary in the captioning provided by Carrey, with one reading, “Trump is willing to risk countless lives to save his economic record. He has fully become the mayor from Jaws.”

Paris Hilton
In a YouTube video posted to her page on April 27, Paris Hilton took viewers on a tour of her home. One stop was Hilton’s “art room,” where she said she’s “been spending a lot of time” amid the pandemic. Some of her projects have included collages with images from magazines and a painting of a cat. She said that her busy collages of skulls and emojis were among her favorite creations. Later in the video, Hilton created a digital drawing (using a tablet device) of her cat, who made an onscreen appearance midway during the project, for the organization Doodles 4 Dollars.
