Angela Bassett looked stunning during Monday’s Emmy Awards, presenting alongside funny lady Tiffany Haddish and stealing our hearts all night.
In an early version of Tuesday’s New York Times print publication, the respected newspaper wrongly identified Bassett as former Trump advisor, Omarosa Manigault-Newman.
oh my god the New York Times mixed up Angela Bassett with Omarosa pic.twitter.com/jLoePOqADy

The Times tweeted a response to the error immediately, telling followers they “will issue a correction in tomorrow’s paper.”
We regret running an incorrect caption from a photo wire service in some early print editions. We will issue a correction in tomorrow’s paper.https://t.co/fEezxxXo0M

That wasn’t enough to stop Twitter from hanging them out the dry for the mistake. Check out responses to the blunder below.
This is insulting. Angela Bassett is not the queen of aging backwards for y’all to be confusing her with Omarosa. The nerve! The audacity! https://t.co/pjBaQ5DZOO

First, they don’t look anything alike. Second, they can go to hell for insulting Angela Bassett that way. Last, why the hell do they think that Omarosa would be a presenter at the Emmys? This is just beyond stupidity.

They OWE the divine Ms. Angela Bassett a HUGE apology, not to mention retraction of that horrendous print. Ms. Bassett far, far, FAR outweighs Omarosa in EVERYTHING!!!!!!

OMG. Angela Bassett is so above Omarosa’s league. The NYT lost my patronage a few years and several bad takes ago.

Bassett herself responded as well, simply tweeting “No worries,” and including a GIF of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) saying her signature phrase, “It’s handled.”
