Community activist and pastor Kenneth Glasgow of Dothan, Alabama has been charged with capital murder after allegedly driving a vehicle involved in a fatal shooting. He is also the half-brother of Reverend Al Sharpton.
Fox News reports the 52-year-old was arrested alongside alleged gunman, Jamie Emmanuel Townes. The victim, 23-year-old Breunia Jennings, was found dead in her car with a gunshot wound to the head. Both Glasgow and Townes are being held at the Houston County Jail with no bond.
Pastor Glasgow claims he was asked to give Townes a ride to look for his car and had no idea his passenger had ill intentions. In Alabama, the person believed to have aided or abetted a criminal act is considered equally liable for said act.
Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish revealed in a press conference that Townes believed Jennings stole his car, which led to the altercation.
“Instead of him notifying law enforcement, he took matters in his own hands and jumped in Mr. Glasgow’s vehicle to find Breunia Jennings,” Parrish said, according to the Dothan Eagle.
Parrish went on, “Several rounds were fired at the vehicle she was driving, but one struck her in the head that caused critical injuries. She passed from her injuries. I want the family of Breunia Jennings to know our thoughts and prayers go out to them during this time.”
Glasgow posted a photo to Facebook last January of him standing next to Sharpton.
“You and Al look like brothers,” a user commented.
“Lol we are,” Glasgow replied.
