- Other top voices include play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun and reporter Jen Hale
- $2 million winner-take-all championship game will be played in Chicago on Aug. 6
ESPN college basketball analysts Fran Fraschilla, Dan Dakich and Seth Greenberg again will headline the commentator team for The Basketball Tournament (TBT), the single-elimination, five-on-five, open-application tournament with a winner-take-all $2 million prize. The sixth annual TBT event features 64 teams competing in regional events in eight cities over two weekends (July 19-21 and July 25-28). The eight regional winners then advance to TBT Championship Week in Chicago, Aug. 1-6.
In addition to Fraschilla, Dakich and Greenberg, a roster of broadcasting veterans, including Bob Rathbun, voice of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, and reporter Jen Hale, who covers the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans in addition to national assignments, will call 2019 TBT games. Other voices will include: Brian Bedo, Luke Bonner, Brock Bowling, Eric Duick, Sam Farber, Paul Keels, Mike Kennedy, Matt Martucci, Tim Scarborough, Richie Schueler, Chris Vosters and Rich Zvosec.
ESPN will present live coverage of all 63 games, including 25 games across its linear networks – 17 on ESPN, seven on ESPN2, and one on ESPNU. Every tournament game also will be streamed live on the ESPN App. TBT games will be streamed live on ESPN’s international networks and on-demand via the ESPN Player to more than 190 countries and territories, including Spanish-speaking Latin America, Brazil, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, parts of Asia and more. ESPN has covered TBT each year since the event debuted in 2014.
TBT 2019 will feature more than 60 players with NBA experience, 23 college alumni teams and international professionals playing in top leagues around the world. More than 20 Division I college players who finished their eligibility in 2019 will suit up for the single-elimination, five-on-five tournament. Fans also are rewarded, as the top 1,000 fans of the winning team share $200,000. And new this year, each of the eight Regional champions will earn a prize equal to 25 percent of that Region’s ticket sales. The Wichita Regional prize purse alone is more than $65,000.
Overseas Elite, a team of American stars currently playing in top leagues around the world, won for the fourth consecutive year in 2018. Back to defend their title, they have gone 25-0 and taken home an astounding $7 million over four years. For more information: www.thetournament.com
