Congrats are in order for 15-year-old Cori ‘Coco’ Gauff. The teen, born in Atlanta, has been named the youngest female player to win a Grand Slam match in the qualifying rounds of the French Open, WSB-TV 2 Atlanta reports.
According to the news outlet, Gauff, who resides in Florida, made history after defeating 26-year-old Ankita Raina of India in Paris May 21.
Ranked the 344th player in the world, Gauff lost her second qualifying match May 23 when she was beaten by Kaja Juvan of Slovenia. She won the French Open Juniors title one year ago and was victorious during the doubles championship at the 2018 U.S. Open Juniors event.
Gauff won her first national tennis event at the age of 8. According to Forbes, she is slated to earn $1 million in 2019 and has signed endorsement deals with New Balance and and Italian pasta giant Barilla Group.
