The #MAYhem Begins as ESPN Kicks off Month-Long College Softball Post Season Coverage; More than 120 Conference Tournament Games & 17 Championships

ESPN’s coverage of the college softball post-season begins in earnest this week with an unprecedented slate of 120+ conference tournament games, capped by 17 conference championships available ESPN’s networks. More than 100 matchups will be available on ESPN+—the direct to consumer sports streaming service—another 15 games slated for ESPN’s television networks and multiple games on ESPN3 and ACC Network Extra. The action begins Wednesday, May 8, and concludes with the NCAA Softball Selection Special Presented by Capital One on May 12, at 9 p.m. ET, live on ESPN2.

‘Ships on ‘Ships on ‘Ships
Three days of preliminary round matchups will lead towards a full Saturday slate of conference championship games in which the winners earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Softball Championship. ESPN will air the ACC Championship (noon) and the American (noon) and SEC (8 p.m.) Conference Championships will air on ESPN2. On the same day, ESPN+ will carry the Metro Atlantic (11 a.m.)  Big South (noon), Ohio Valley (Noon),  ASUN (1 p.m.), Atlantic 10 (1p.m.), Horizon League (1 p.m.), SoCon (1 p.m.), Ivy, (1: 30 p.m.), Missouri Valley (2 p.m.), Sun Belt (2 p.m.), Summit (2 p.m.) and WAC (4:30 p.m.) championship games.

The ASUN (3:30 p.m.), Atlantic 10 (3:30 p.m.), Big South (2:30 p.m.), Horizon (3:30 p.m.), Ivy (3:30 p.m.), Southern (3 p.m.), Summit (4:30 p.m.)  and WAC (7 p.m.) conferences could all go to a second “if necessary” championship game on Saturday, all on ESPN+.

The Southland tournament will conclude on Friday, May 10 (1 p.m.), on ESPNU with and “if necessary” game (3:15 p.m.) on ESPN3.

First to Last Pitch
Every game from the ACC, Atlantic 10, ASUN, Big South, Conference USA, Horizon, Ivy League, Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley, SEC, Sun Belt, WAC tournaments will be available, with a full schedule complete with times and network designations below. SEC Network will air the first (Wednesday) and second (Thursday) rounds of the SEC Tournament with semifinals (Friday) on ESPN2. ACC Network Extra will stream all early round games of the ACC Tournament and ESPN+ will carry early round conference games from the eight additional conferences.

SEC Now Heads to College Station
In addition to airing the first and second rounds of the tournament, SEC Network will travel its flagship news show, SEC Now, to Texas A&M, the host school. SEC Now will go live from College Station on Wednesday, May 8, at 10:30 a.m., prior to first pitch at 11 a.m. The show will then air between each of the first and second round games with a recap show following the last game of the day. A one-hour recap show will air on Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11, following the semifinals and championship.

Molly McGrath will host the daytime editions of SEC Now on Wednesday and Thursday with SEC Network anchor Alyssa Lang handling the evening editions all four days. Analysts and SEC alums Kayla Braud and Madison Shipman will join McGrath and Lang throughout the entirety of the tournament.

#RoadtotheWCWS?
The voice of college softball, Beth Mowins, returns as host of the NCAA Softball Championship Selection Show Presented by Capital One, joined by lead softball analysts Michele Smith and Amanda Scarborough. The 64-team NCAA Division I Softball Championship bracket will be revealed live on Sunday, May 12, at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.

ESPN will continue as the home of the college softball post season, covering every game of the Regionals, Super Regionals and Women’s College World Series. Further coverage details will be available in the coming weeks.

On Monday, May 13, at 6:30 p.m. 7Innings Road to the Women’s College World Series will air on ESPNU taking the podcast from behind the mic to the television screen to preview the post season once the 64-bracket is set.
