T.I. is leading the charge of rappers speaking out against Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham. The controversial right-wing host came under fire for making jokes while covering Nipsey Hussle’s memorial service, which took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday.
During Friday’s episode of The Ingraham Angle, the host said, “Now this dear artist recently released a song called ‘FDT’—F Donald Trump’”—before airing scenes from the song’s video in which the late rapper was not present. Hussle appeared on the 2016 track with fellow emcee YG, the subject featured in the clip.
Ingraham and journalist Raymond Arroyo laughed as they analyzed the lyrics of the song. “Now, that’s a very creative refrain,” said Ingraham. “Very catchy,” opined Arroyo. She then responded with quips about the unemployment rate in the African-American community since Donald Trump’s presidency.
On Sunday, T.I. reposted a segment from Ingraham’s show on Instagram and captioned it with, “My expectations have already decreased so much for mankind in the past couple weeks that this hardly surprised me, especially from FOX News.”
He added, “But rest assured that sooner than later you’ll BOTH see. We all get our turn to live through our own personal tragedy and watch how many people dance in the streets, laugh and crack distasteful inappropriate jokes when its YOUR TURN.”
Ingraham, no stranger to backlash, sparked controversy earlier this year after she suggested LeBron James “Shut up and dribble.”
In February, she said, “This is what happens when you attempt to leave high school a year early to join the NBA,” after James publicly criticized Trump. “Millions elected Trump to be their coach. Keep the political commentary to yourself or as someone just said, ‘shut up and dribble.’”
Along with Charlamagne Tha God naming Ingraham the “Donkey of The Day” on Monday, calls for Ingraham’s termination were spread by social media users and celebrities such asThe Game and Tank.
