50 Cent is bringing a new series to the small screen.
The rapper has reportedly teamed up with an Academy Award-wining producer for a new series based on the life of New York street gang leader Peter “Pistol Pete” Rocklin.
50 Cent revealed his plans to create a television show inspired by New York’s
Sex Money Murder gang on Instagram. “Oscar award winning producer
@nicolerocklin partners with ya Boy 50 to create the hit Tv show Sex Money
Murder ( The Pistol Pete story) #lecheminduroi #bransoncognac # I get the ?
bag,” he wrote.
The forthcoming series will reportedly feature insight from investigative journalist Jonathan Green’s Sex Money Murder: A Story of Crack, Blood and Betrayal book.
Sex Money Murder, a Blood’s gang sect, was created in New Jersey and branched off into the Bronx, New York, with Pistol Pete at the helm. In 2000, Pistol Pete was sentenced to life in prison without parole after he was charged with seven murders.
This isn’t 50 Cent’s first time showing interest in Sex Money Murder and Pistol Pete. The emcee referenced the gang on his Guess Who’s Back mixtape on the song “F**k You.” 50 Cent rapped, “Sex, money, murder, I gotta eat/ but I ain’t tryna do hard time like Pistol Pete.”
50 Cent is bringing more gang-related content to the small screen as well. The rapper’s series Power has been picked up for a sixth season. An executive producer on the series, he released a teaser for a prequel to the STARZ series entitled, TGE (The Golden Era).
He’s also casting roles for a new series about Atlanta’s infamous Black Mafia Family gang and it’s leader Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory. Flenory is currently serving a 30-year sentence. Randy Huggins will serve as the series’ writer and showrunner.
