With a winter storm blasting through Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, the National Zoo and all Smithsonian museums in the city closed for the day.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the weather conditions have also closed all government offices and grounded hundreds of flights out of D.C., with as much as six inches of snow expected to fall over the course of the day.

Among the museums shuttering are the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Renwick Gallery, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. A call to the Smithsonian about when the institutions might reopen went to a recording.
