The Tbilisi-born artist Anna K.E. has been chosen to represent Georgia at the Venice Biennale. The Georgian gallery Project ArtBeat is commissioning the pavilion; Margot Norton, a curator at the New Museum in New York, is curating it.

K.E., who is based in New York and Düsseldorf, Germany, is known for videos, installations, and sculptures that deal with the relationship between one’s body and the space surrounding it. The history of modernism, feminism, and technologies are also often involved in her work, which has been shown in New York in the past couple years at the Queens Museum and Simone Subal Gallery.

Her Venice Biennale presentation will be titled “REARMIRRORVIEW, Simulation is Simulation, is Simulation, is Simulation…,” and go on view on May 11, 2019.
