COURTESY TAIPEI DANGDAI

Some 90 galleries will participate in the first edition of Taipei Dangdai, a new fair set to kick off in Taiwan on January 18, 2019. Led by Magnus Renfrew, the former director of Art Basel Hong Kong, the fair has, in its inaugural edition, drawn a range of exhibitors, including mega-galleries like Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Pace Gallery, and David Zwirner alongside smaller spaces based around Asia.

In a previous interview with ARTnews, Renfrew said that his plan was to “create the best fair” in Taiwan, and would prioritize “regionality” over “being ‘second-best’ ” in attempting to be a global fair.

With its 90 galleries, about 20 percent of which hail from Taiwan, Taipei Dangdai is smaller than Art Basel Hong Kong, which this year had nearly 250 exhibitors.

The selection committee for the fair included Waling Boers (Boers-Li Gallery), Patricia Crockett (Sprüth Magers), Isa Lorenzo (Silverlens Galleries), Edouard Malingue (Edouard Malingue Gallery), and Elisa Uematsu (Taka Ishii Gallery).

The exhibitor list follows below.
