O.J. Simpson knows a thing or two about surviving prison, having served nine years at a Nevada-based correctional facility for armed robbery. The Hall of Fame running back had two words of advice for TV sitcom legend Bill Cosby, who was recently sentenced to serve three to 10 years in prison on sexual assault charges: protective custody.
“The problem is the nature of the crime,” Simpson told TMZ, explaining how rapists are usually targeted in prison and often end up raped themselves—if not worse—while inside. http://m.tmz.com/#!2018/09/26/oj-simpson-bill-cosby-house-arrest-prison/
“Rapists are frowned upon in prison,” Simpson continued. “I’m sure there will be guys protecting him but they’re gonna have to put him in protective custody because it takes one nut, you know?”
Simpson, who was released early on parole last year from a 33-year-plus prison sentence, said he has not kept track of Cosby’s trial, but he believes Cosby, 81, should have been placed on house arrest because of his age and health. He also suggested that prison officials would be nervous about jailing someone of Cosby’s stature because of the blowback they could face if anything was to happen to him while serving his sentence.
He said, “With his health and his age and the nature of the crime, there’s not a warden in this country wants the responsibility of a Bill Cosby.”
