Actor Tom Arnold and TV producer Mark Burnett appear to have gotten into a physical altercation at a pre-Emmys party on Sunday night.
Arnold, who claims that Burnett is sitting on a trove of recordings of President Donald Trump making racist and other off-color comments during the taping of “The Apprentice,” wrote on Twitter:
The Hollywood Reporter said police had not yet responded to a request for comment, but Arnold’s lawyer told the magazine that a fight took place.
Arnold and Burnett reportedly scuffled during arrivals at the Evening Before Emmy party, a fundraiser for the Motion Picture Television Fund, and were separated by security, Variety reported. Both entered the party after “settling down.”
Burnett has been so far silent about the incident; however, his wife, actress Roma Downey, said she was injured in what she called an “ambush” at a charity event:
Arnold quickly fired back:
There are few other details about the encounter so far, but comic Patton Oswalt tweeted that Arnold was OK:
Arnold’s new show, “The Hunt for the Trump Tapes,” debuts on Tuesday on Viceland. He claims multiple people have described what the future president said during the recording of the hit reality TV series:
Last month, Trump said that Burnett told him there were no such tapes.
Burnett has said little about the existence of any such recordings, but during the 2016 presidential campaign, he denied that any “Apprentice” outtakes were his to release, saying they belonged to MGM, which owns his production company. Earlier this year, Burnett was named the chairman of MGM Worldwide Television Group. He also denied being a Trump supporter.
