Former President Barack Obama has been free from the pressures of running the nation for two years now. For those of us paying close attention, it seems as though he has been enjoying every minute of it. He traded in long days and melancholy speeches for fun in the sun and other recreational activities.

In honor of Obama’s 57th birthday today, EBONY shares some of our favorite moments of the Hawaii native living his best post-presidency life.

The bromance between former president Obama and his former vice president Joe Biden did not end once they left the White House. The pair met up from lunch on July 30 in D.C. at Dog Tag Bakery, a nonprofit that trains veterans and military spouses on how to run a food business. “Joe’s paying,” Obama joked while they ordered their meals.

Just like many of us, Barack and Michelle Obama enjoy JAY-Z and Beyoncé. The power couple was spotted July 28 at the Maryland stop of the hip-hop couple’s On The Run II tour. The Obamas appeared to be having the time of their lives, dancing along to music throughout the night. The former president even stood up from his seat in the skybox to wave at people as they cheered him.

During his first trip back to Kenya since being out of office, the 44th president showed off his dance moves in his father’s native country. On July 16, Obama was spotted two-stepping to the country’s traditional music with his step-grandmother, Sarah Obama, 96, during the launch of half-sister Dr. Auma Obama’s sports, training and vocational center.

His last visit to Kenya was in 2015.

n March, Obama took his first trip to New Zealand. One of the things he did was play golf against a team led by the former prime minister of the country, Sir John Key. Although the Chicago resident lost, according to the NZ Herald, Key said, “[Obama] was relaxed, loved the course and his first glimpse of New Zealand.”

The Obamas are relationship goals, they always share sweet messages on anniversaries, birthdays and holidays. This past Valentine’s Day was no different. Former first lady Michelle shared a 44-song Spotify playlist, dedicated to her husband. He returned the love, sharing a sweet photo of him and his wife smiling while on vacation with a short and adorable message: “Happy Valentine’s Day, @MichelleObama,” he wrote. “You make every day and every place better.”

Obama was the first guest on David Letterman’s monthly Netflix talk show, which premiered on Jan. 12. It is among one of the few interviews he has done since leaving office last year. The former president is seen glowing and relaxed, and he brought his wit, humor and great storytelling to the episode.

When you’re in a relationship, the social media era requires you to be your wife’s personal photographer. A little something Obama and JAY-Z have in common, the two men have been spotted shooting their women’s best angles. While on vacation in April 2017, the former president was pictured snapping a photo of Michelle on the deck of a super yacht off the coast of the French Polynesian island of Moorea.

IIn February 2017, while in New York City visiting his daughter Malia Obama, who was interning at the Weinstein Co., Obama visited some posh restaurants. One Thursday night, he went to Emilio’s Ballato, an old-school Italian restaurant and celebrity hotspot. The owner, Emilio Vitolo, shared a group photo from the evening with the daddy-daughter duo. He captioned it, “Pleasure having our former President pay us a visit with his beautiful daughter Malia #familyovereverything.”

Barack Obama whisked Michelle Obama away for vacation in the British Virgin Islands immediately after President Donald Trump’s inauguration. In pictures and videos posted by close friend Richard Branson, Virgin’s CEO, Obama is seen grinning ear to ear while kitesurfing.
