Action to Begin an Hour Early: Breakfast at Wimbledon – 7 a.m. ET, Matches at 8 a.m.
The continuation of the Rafael Nadal – Novak Djokovic Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Semifinal will precede the scheduled Ladies’ Championship; ESPN’s start time moves up one hour to 8 a.m. ET. The match – to determine who will face Kevin Anderson in Sunday’s Gentlemen’s Championship – will pick up with Djokovic leading two sets to one.
The Ladies’ Championship will follow – No. 25 seed Serena Williams will try to tie Margaret Court’s record of 24 career Major titles vs. No. 11 Angelique Kerber. The matchup is a rematch of the 2016 Wimbledon championship, won in straight sets by Williams. Williams has seven Wimbledon trophies on her mantle, Kerber won two Majors in 2016, the Australian and US Opens.
The Ladies’ Championship will also be aired on ABC at 3 p.m., on ESPNEWS at 9 p.m. and on ESPN2 at 12:30 a.m. Chris Fowler will call the match with Chrissie Evert.
ESPN+ on the ESPN App
Beyond Centre Court, more courts are available on the ESPN App with the new ESPN+ service, making its Major tennis debut. Play – including the Mixed Doubles semifinals, Juniors, Wheelchair and Invitational (seniors) – begins as early as 6 a.m.
Breakfast at Wimbledon
The action will be preceded at 7 a.m. by Breakfast at Wimbledon, hosted by Chris McKendry. The show will include:
- In an ESPN exclusive, Serena Williams talks about her remarkable comeback after giving birth in her own words.
- Tom Rinaldi sits down with Williams’ coach, Patrick Mouratoglou to discuss her career, including what he sees as her greatest successes and failures.
- A review of the Gentlemen’s Semifinals and a look ahead to the Championship.
ESPN3’s “DataCenter” Makes Wimbledon Debut
ESPN3, online and streaming live on the ESPN App, will offer an additional feed – “Wimbledon DataCenter” – for the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Championships. “DataCenter,” as seen at last year’s US Open, has a column of match stats on the left edge with more in a box along the bottom of the screen; the match telecast will fill the rest of the screen.
Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ Doubles Championships Saturday
Following the Ladies’ Championships, ESPN will present the Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ Doubles Championships, both played on Centre Court:
Gentlemen’s Doubles Championship:
The American team of Mike Bryan and Jack Sock faces Raven Klassen and Michael Venus.
Ladies’ Doubles Championship:
American Nicole Melichar teams with Kveta Peschke and they will play Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova.
