Day Five at Wimbledon on Friday, July 6, has Third Round play, and ESPN has all the action exclusively in the U.S. with ESPN, ESPN3 and – making its Major tennis debut this week – the new ESPN+ service with coverage of 12 courts.  ESPN+’s offerings will include Court 2 where the third match of the day will see #9 John Isner attempt to reach Wimbledon’s Fourth Round on “Manic Monday” for the first time. The 33-year old from North Carolina and the University of Georgia has reached the third round three times previously (2014-16).  He plays Radu Albot of Moldova.

ESPN+ will stream:

  • Court 2 will start with Philipp Kohlschreiber vs. #8 Kevin Anderson followed by a battle of Ladies’ seeds, #13 Julia Goerges vs. #23 Barbora Strycova.
  • Courts 2, 5-8, 10, 12, and 14-18. Singles matches are listed in the grid below (action on each court begins at 6:30 a.m. ET; all matches available on demand until the end of the tournament).
  • Most courts will have doubles competition, including Americans Mike Bryan and Jack Sock (Mike’s longtime partner, his twin brother Bob, is injured) teaming in the first match on Court 14. Sock will also play with Sloane Stephens in Mixed Doubles (court, time TBD, not before noon ET).

For the first time at the All England Club there are cameras on every court.  ESPN’s coverage – first ball to last ball – includes more than 500 matches, all available for fans between ESPN3 and the new ESPN+ on the ESPN app; 140 hours of action will be on TV.  The action will climax with the Ladies’ Championship and the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Doubles Championships on ESPN on Saturday, July 14, and the Gentlemen’s Championship on Sunday, July 15, followed by the Mixed Doubles Championship.

ESPN and Tennis

Tennis has been part of ESPN since its first week on the air, providing numerous memorable moments from around the world, but it has never been as important as today, with the unprecedented position of presenting three of the sport’s Major events from start to finish (Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open, with exclusivity at the latter two).
