ArtTable, the New York-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing the careers of women working in the arts, has named Jessica Porter as its director.

Porter is currently the executive director of New York Artists Equity Association, a nonprofit and gallery space, and she will assumer her new role at ArtTable on July 1.

At New York Artists Equity Association, Porter grew the organization’s membership by 45 percent and prioritized diversity in programming. From 2006 to 2017, she was the founding director of Porter Contemporary, an art gallery in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

Porter has been a member of ArtTable’s board of directors for the past four years.

“This is an important time for women, and ArtTable is uniquely positioned to take a leading role in mentoring the next generation of leaders in the arts,” Porter said in a statement. “Our members are among the most prominent, dynamic, and effective leaders in the art world and they represent the very best of our field.”
