Xtressé is expanding its hair care lineup with two new wash day systems designed to nourish textured hair while supporting scalp health.
Scalp care is having a moment in the haircare space. With brands focusing on formulas that hydrate and remove impurities, the goal is to improve scalp health to help consumers achieve their hair goals. Xtressé, a brand developed by dermatologists that relies on active ingredients, has entered the conversation with an expansion in wash day products. Featuring two wash day systems—the Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner and the Deep Moisturizing Shampoo & Hair Mask—the brand focuses on providing nourishment while improving the look and feel of the scalp.
The brand’s volumizing duo is formulated with straight, curly, and wavy textures in mind to lift the roots, enhance moisture, and improve manageability. As for the Deep Moisturizing Shampoo + Mask, it’s crafted for coily hair types to gently cleanse, replenish moisture, and reduce frizz. Formulated with a proprietary X-3-Peptide Complex and an X3 BioActive Blend Plus, the brand states that each system helps to retain proteins in every wash to strengthen hair cuticles and support scalp health. Additionally, each system is designed to provide protection from environmental stressors and styling damage.
It’s no secret that there’s a direct relationship between scalp care and healthy hair. Although scalp care mostly focuses on cleansing the scalp surface, Xtressé takes a broader approach. Xtressé founding member and board-certified dermatologist Dr. Chesahna Kindred shares that intentionality was key when formulating the wash day systems. “There are intentional, research-backed ingredients in it, with the design for moisturization, retaining elasticity, and not stripping the hair strands,” Dr. Kindred says.
Once I got the 4-1-1 from the Xtressé team, it was time to experience the new wash systems for myself. Hairstylist Darrius Peace and Dr. Kindred immediately got me comfortable at the bowl. Darrius kicked things off by working warm water through my hair and then applying the Deep Moisturizing Shampoo. Through the process, I noticed that he was able to work the product through my hair from roots to ends without any snagging. Not to mention, there was no shed hair in the bowl. After the second wash, we moved on to the Deep Moisturizing Hair Mask. He mentioned that a little went a long way and that the mask spread easily through my strands. Then, he finger-detangled my hair, combed through my strands, and rinsed.
Once I got in the chair, Darrius detangled my hair with a brush. I realized how well the formula worked for my 4C hair. For starters, my hair felt soft and hydrated, and there was little to no shed hair in the brush. And while it has become normal for me to experience some itching post-wash, I didn’t feel any discomfort. My scalp felt clean and refreshed. Once he blow-dried my hair, we decided that the NYC humidity calls for a protective style. So, we landed on a cute twist updo that would serve as my look for CultureCon.
After applying a few pumps of the Xtressé FR Concentrate Serum to my strands, Darrius went to work. In no time, my hair was in twists, and he added some curls into the mix as the perfect finishing touch.
As consumers look for multifunctional haircare products that address hair and scalp health, it may be worth exploring Xtressé’s wash day systems. For more information on Xtressé’s full lineup, click here.
