Newark, NJ – Septe 28, 2026 — Tyscot Records recently celebrated its 50th anniversary during a reception following the 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards in August in Charlotte, NC this year, also marking five decades as the nation’s oldest operating Black-owned gospel record label.
During the celebration, the label honored affiliated artists, industry leaders, and founder Bishop Leonard Scott with special Legacy and Lifetime Achievement Awards during events. However due to conflicting schedules, several of the honorees were not able to make it, including Sheilah Belle “The Belle” who was actually co-hosting another event, Bishop Hezekiah Walkers Choirfest, during that same time.
So not to be forgotten, over the weekend, Sidney Scott, Director of A&R, Promotions and Corporate Liaison, traveled to Newark, NJ for the New Jersey/New York Gospel Industry Network (GIN) to deliver three more Awards of Achievement. While pushing out video reels for several of their artists, he also took time to surprise three individuals with the Legacy and Lifetime Achievement Award, including Skip Dillard, Bishop Kenneth Wells and Sheilah Belle “Belle.”
This was truly an amazing yet also a humbling moment to be recognized by the nation’s oldest operating and most respected Black-owned gospel record label in the country.
Thank You!
