This debut colorway, known as Bright Crimson, might be a bold option to come fresh out of the gate with, but that’s to be expected with Morant as it mirrors his own court flashiness.
Ja Morant’s back to his rebellious ways when it comes to teasing fans of his Nike line.
Back in April, he leaked the Ja 4, and the public immediately gave it a thumbs-up; now he’s done it again with the Ja 4 High.
Renderings earlier this year showed a zip-up high-top, and that’s what Ja’s delivered for the new iteration of the Ja 4.
The newly minted Portland Trail Blazer previewed a red pair —which will match his uniform— on Instagram Stories in a few angles.
It’s wrapped in a new JA-Frame containment, with the swoosh acting as the J and the A cupping around the entire sole, sitting atop an allover print zip-up.
The zipper reads “Call Twelve” a nod to his old number, now that he’s getting a fresh start with No.1 in the Pacific Northwest.
The shoes are reminiscent of the Nike Gary Payton from the early aughts, where most of the tech seems to be within the inner bootie, while the outer shell is more for style, adding different ways to rock the sneakers as evidenced by its thin collar
In Ja’s preview, he wears them zipped up to the top, and another more casual look with the top layer folded down to reveal the lacing system and his prominent triangular logo on the tongue. He’s even rocking a pair of long black shorts with a matching bright red Ja logo hit at the hip.
This debut colorway, known as Bright Crimson, might be a bold option to come fresh out of the gate with, but that’s to be expected with Morant as it mirrors his own court flashiness.
“Colorways have always been big for me,” Morant said ahead of the Ja 4’s release in August. “I don’t like playing it safe — I want my shoes to stand out, just like my game. Every pair gotta have some energy to it, something that makes you feel different when you put it on. I pull inspiration from everything: my life, my mood, my family. And yeah, I’ve been hearing people call me the ‘Colorway King,’ so I take that serious. I’m gonna keep making sure every drop hits like that.”
The Nike Ja 4 ‘Bright Crimson’ is reportedly expected to drop on  November 4 for $180 in North America and $175 globally.
