Baltimore, Maryland, is known as Charm City, which gained the moniker “Charm City, U.S.A.” during a heat wave in the summer of 1974, with advertisements gloating about the city’s hidden treasures gracing major newspapers at the time. Since then, the name has never left.
Within Charm City, there are several Black-Owned Art Galleries that are treasures worth exploring and supporting. If you live in Baltimore or are planning a future trip to the city, go check these out.

Housed in the heart of the Mount Vernon neighborhood, Quid Nunc Art Gallery welcomes all forms of artistic expression for established and emerging artists. Nancy Kay (NK) Blackwell , the owner of Quid Nunc Art Gallery, hails from a lineage steeped in artistic tradition.
A creative-nostalgic experience disguised as an art gallery & yes, there is a mini hip-hop museum on the second floor.
Tribe Social Cafe is a vibrant gathering place in the heart of downtown Baltimore. This unique cafe doubles as a gallery, bringing together exceptional food and a curated selection of art.
Waller Gallery is a multidisciplinary art gallery focusing on art created by people of color. Conceived in 2017, by curator and scholar Joy Davis, Waller Gallery has a vision to support artists in Baltimore and beyond through collecting, exhibitions, programming, and collaborative projects.
