During the second night of her 'Cowboy Carter Tour,' Beyoncé’ revealed that Tina’s eye-opening memoir was the 'No.1 book' on the 'New York Times' bestsellers list.
The iconic glam-mother, Tina Knowles, 71, has hit a huge milestone with her new book Matriarch, which hit shelves in late April. During the second night (May 1) of Beyoncé’s highly acclaimed Cowboy Carter Tour at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the 43-year-old singer revealed that Mama Tina’s eye-opening memoir was the “No.1 book” on the New York Times bestsellers list.
The crowd erupted in cheers, and the announcement sent Beyoncé’s youngest daughter, Rumi, 7, into a joyful bounce, hopping up and down with excitement. Her big sister, Blue, 13, had to gently guide her aside to make room for their mom to continue her shoutout to Tina.
“Everybody, please say, ‘Congratulations, Mama T.’ One, two, three!’” Beyoncé said, as the crowd shouted her request back. As the crowd echoed Beyoncé’s words back to her, Tina, clearly touched by the moment, blew a kiss to the audience before leaving the stage with her granddaughters, gently holding Rumi’s hand.
Released on April 22, Matriarch offers an intimate and inspiring glimpse into the life of Tina Knowles, tracing her journey from a spirited young girl in Galveston, Texas, to the influential mother of global icons Beyoncé and Solange. The memoir opens with vivid scenes of Tina’s childhood in 1950s Galveston—the youngest of seven siblings—surrounded by music, tight-knit family, and the rhythms of coastal life. But as she confronts the harsh realities of racism and the constraints placed on young Black girls, her imagination begins to reach far beyond her small-town roots.
What follows is a powerful account of transformation: a life shaped by personal loss, her heartbreaking divorce from first husband, Mathew Knowles, along with her bold creative choices and her relentless drive to nurture both her children’s brilliance and her own. Matriarch is not just the story of the woman behind the stars. It’s a deeply personal reflection on resilience, identity, and the legacy of motherhood.
Before Thursday’s show, Bey took to Instagram to congratulate her mom on the big win.
“The Mama T was that good?? Ha. You deserve it, I’m so proud!” she captioned a photo of Tina’s sizzling memoir.
