Who was once a teen show pop star has turned into an international icon music legend.
Aubrey Graham, better known as Drake, became the voice of a generation. His journey began back in 2009 with the infamous hit “Best I’ve Ever Had.” A year later, Drake became one of the hottest topics our generation has ever seen. Was he an R&B singer who could rap? Or a rapper that could sign R&B? Was he really that sad, or just exploiting a cultural preference for male vulnerability. From the beginning, Drake has let his contradictions define him as; tender, but toxic, a good guy, but a dog, a rookie, but the vet. In many of ways, Drakes music has single handily carried music charts from 2010 all the way up until now.
As we celebrate Drakes 38th birthday, we thought it would be a great time to reminisce and celebrate some of his music that helped him become who he is today. In no specific order, here are 5 of Drakes most influential albums.
1. Views

When we think back to the summer of 2016, it is hard to not think about Drake and this album. From the iconic album cover of Drake sitting on top of the infamous CN Tower in Toronto, to the huge hits such as “One Dance,” this is an album that is filled with nothing but feel good music. A year before Views, Drake dropped his project with Future What A Time To Be Alive. Some of the hit songs from this album were:
2. If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late
In my personal opinion, I feel as though a lot of people forget about this album. This album is the home of some of Drakes HARDEST hits. This impressive 17 track release combines thoughtfulness with boastful attitude. In this album, some of the hit songs were:
3. Nothing Was The Same
This was the follow up album after Drake dropped the infamous Take Care album. Not only does this album intensify Drake’s sensitivity, it also deepens the ominous undercurrent in his music. In this album we see songs that talk about success and celebration, but we also see inescapable fears and dangers that Drake struggles with. Some of the hit songs were:
4. Take Care
The best word to describe this album would be timeless. This album was a career-capturing moment for Drake, it being the album to get him a Grammy win. Not only was the album a hit back when it released in 2011, but the music aged beautifully. This album stands as one of the most beloved, move decadent moments of Drakes illustrious discography. Some of the hits off of this album were:
5. Thank Me Later
Thank Me Later would be the album that confirmed Drakes star status. In this album we see the singer-rapper really be born. It was here where we see Drake fuse hip-hop, R&B, and rap all into one to become one of its kind. With Drake wanting to make a name for himself, we see a lot of heavy hitting songs with deep cuts that still are hits to this day. Some hits off of this album were:
After being in the music game for 15 years, there are no signs of Drake going anywhere.
